Your daily work environment contains more career information than you might realize.
The problems around you show where work breaks down.
Your reactions show what captures your attention.
Your strengths show what you might contribute.
Your curiosity shows where you might want to grow.
And the problems you successfully help solve can become evidence of what you’re capable of doing.
So the next time you hear someone say:
“Why does this always happen?”
don’t immediately tune it out.
Pause.
Ask why.
Ask who it affects.
Ask whether it matters.
Ask what would need to change.
And most importantly, ask yourself:
“Why did I notice this in the first place?”
That question may lead somewhere.
Your next career move might not begin with a job posting.
It might begin with a problem you’ve been seeing for years—and finally decide to understand a little better.
