There will always be periods when work gets intense.
A major project.
A busy season.
A tight deadline.
A new responsibility.
That’s normal.
The problem is when permanent busyness becomes your definition of success.
You shouldn’t have to be overwhelmed every week to prove that you’re valuable.
The stronger long-term goal is to become someone who can handle important problems, make good decisions, improve processes, and produce results without constantly running at full capacity.
Because eventually, your career will be judged less by how many things you managed to squeeze into a day and more by what you’re capable of handling.
So the next time you look at a packed schedule and think, “At least I’m getting a lot done,” pause for a moment.
Ask a better question:
“Am I just staying busy—or am I becoming more valuable?”
That question can change what you choose to work on next.
